Did you know cancer among Indigenous people is increasing faster than overall Canadian rates?[1] At Wellspring Calgary, our vision is to ensure no one has to face cancer alone. With that vision in mind, we are actively working to build relationships within Indigenous communities.

In that spirit, we are honoured to support the Collective Wellness Pow Wow, a virtual gathering for all Nations, held on March 20, 2021, and hosted by Bow Valley College and Tsuu T’ina Police.

To encourage member participation, Wellspring provided ingredients towards the Virtual Cooking Class for those who registered by March 12th. While our registration is now closed, this cooking class is open to the public for free. If you would like to register, visit the Collective Wellness Pow Wow website at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/virtual-cooking-class-indigenous-style-tacos-tickets-143004501313

You, your family and friends are also invited to the Virtual Pow Wow followed by a Vendor Market taking place throughout the day. For more information, visit: https://collectivewellnesspowwow.ca/

Wellspring Calgary also invites Indigenous peoples living with cancer to join our free monthly Indigenous Cancer Sharing Circle, online or over the phone. This program, co-led by an Elder, offers a safe space in which all Nations across the province are welcome to connect with each other, share common experiences, and experience the benefits of a supportive community. Register by calling Nancy Bilodeau at 1-866-682-3135.
