Morris’s Story

September 4, 2024

On December 28, 2022, after 36 years of dedicated service as a firefighter with Toronto Fire Services, Morris received life-altering news: he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Reflecting on the timing, he recalls with a touch of irony, “Happy New Year!”

When asked about his heroes, Morris doesn’t hesitate. “My father, Morris, and my mother, Mary, are my heroes,” he says with pride. Both of his parents passed away from cancer, yet their strength and resilience left a lasting impact on him. “My father had a very tough life and always fought through.”

Morris also fondly remembers how his parents embraced their roles as grandparents. “Once my parents became grandparents to my daughters, life took on a new meaning for them,” he recalls. Their love and resilience continue to inspire Morris as he navigates his own cancer journey.

With the unwavering support of Wellspring and the cherished memories of his parents’ strength and love, Morris faces each day with courage and gratitude. His story is a testament to the power of family and the importance of community during life’s most challenging moments.
